Questions You Should Ask Yourself When Choosing An Air Dryer

Posted on: 10 April 2017

If your company needs an air dryer in order to ensure that its product is to exact specifications, then there is a good chance that you are going to be spending a lot of time researching dryers in order to find the best one. This is good because a large piece of equipment like that is a significant investment and you don't want the resources spent on the investment to be wasted. Here are some questions that you should ask yourself when choosing an air dryer in order to find the best one for you possible.

1. What level of dryness do you need for the air?

If you need a high level of dryness for the air that you are working with, then you should definitely go with a desiccant air dryer. The reason for this is that desiccant air dryers are able to dry the air more thoroughly than refrigerated air dryers and are not that much more expensive. If you only need a moderate level of dryness with regards to the air that you are using for your product, then you can choose either a desiccant dryer or a refrigerated dryer.

2. Do you have a lot of money upfront for an investment?

The next thing that you need to consider is how much money you have upfront for an investment into your air dryer. This is important to consider because there are vastly different up front amounts that are required for a desiccant dryer and a refrigerated dryer. Refrigerated dryers tend to have a much lower cost that needs to be paid initially because they are just cheaper in general, although they can be more expensive to maintain.

3. What conditions are the pipes in?

If the pipes through which the air is coming in and going out are somewhere where extremely hot or cold temperatures are present, then you should go with a desiccated dryer due to the fact that it is better able to dry the air in extreme circumstances.

4. Are you trying to minimize energy costs?

If you are trying to minimize energy costs, then you should go with a refrigerated dryer because they don't require as much energy as desiccant dryers, making them cheaper to power.
